An article by Jennifer H. Waldeck, PhD entitled ‘Untangling the web of student – teacher communication’ (3) is already suggesting that this topic is a complicated one just through its title. It states that communication is a verbal and non-verbal skill that needs to be learnt. While it is very true that communication is not only through words, as we continually express and communicate through our movements as well as by what we say, are communication skills something that we have to learn? Clearly, it can be seen by observing people and the way we express ourselves, that there are differences in the ease in which we all communicate, depending on how we are, our life experiences until that moment, and how we perceive the situation in front of us.
Being tired is just part of the job if you are a teacher, right? We start the week with the Monday morning blues and already feel the relief of the weekend approaching so that we can get the well-deserved lie in and rest that is needed after a hectic, albeit normal, week at school.
