I have not always truly loved my job or taken so much care in the smaller details, simply because I used to put very little interest in caring for and looking after myself.
Caring for me, has allowed me to show greater care towards the students in my class and others in my work. Looking after myself, checking in with how I am feeling and how things are, are all simple things that have offered me a great support. I now appreciate myself more and also what I bring to the teaching profession. Through this I have also developed an enormous appreciation for my colleagues and their underlying passion for teaching.
Learning to appreciate myself, and what I bring to teaching has been the key.
Life and work feels easy and enjoyable. It is a pleasure to go to work everyday to be with everyone . . . even tricky moments feel easier to deal with. I love the fact that I feel more passion about teaching than when I entered the profession.
Making life about people, relationships and appreciation first has reconnected me to my purpose of being a teacher.
