When I initially read the Teachers are Gold website I stopped after the first few lines,
I am continually learning and being inspired by the children around me.
Two of my students found a wooden clothes peg that had been decorated with paint and bits and pieces to make it into a yellow daisy when they were out of the classroom on an early morning message. They thought the peg was pretty and presented it to me to wear. I went to clip it on my top, but got the sudden impulse to clip it in my hair. We all thought this was a bit of fun, me especially, as I know my hair doesn’t hold any clips I might put in. I was astonished when the peg stayed in place.
Last week I headed to the airport for a few days of rest during the Christmas holidays. As I made my way up to the check-in area, I was greeted with a tap on the shoulder. I turned and was surprised to receive a big hug from a parent of a student I had taught at least fifteen years ago.
All around the world teachers are caring for, inspiring, nurturing and guiding children. These are our stories in our words in joy and appreciation of ALL that we bring!
