Our Philosophy and Approach
Everyone remembers the teacher that helped them, the teacher that shone some supportive light in their schooling experience, the teacher that gave them a chance when most others didn't. The power of this is that it normally only takes one teacher coming from their heart to truly meet and connect with a student in this way. This can change that student’s life forever.
What if this could be lived everyday by all teachers?
First, a teacher must be celebrated and honoured in everything they are and in everything they can bring EACH AND EVERY DAY! Equal to this, they must be given ALL the tools of how to do this for THEMSELVES, that is, to truly celebrate and honour all that they are and all that they bring.
One of the core foundations of this begins with true self-care, which leads to true self-worth and nothing can break true self-worth.
All teachers must feel confident that they have the power to offer TRUE CHANGE. In fact, each and every teacher holds this power almost equally to all parents. They offer this first and foremost by way of REFLECTION. If a teacher can reflect to a student a place of balance and connection within self, then they are forever providing a connection and a space/environment for a student to access their own understanding of life, which means they will actually learn!
One of the most damaging things for students is a given up teacher. Giving up is when you lose your heart in something that you do.
If we understand that teachers are the key holders to many possibilities for students, then if the teacher themselves lose their heart or their way, the keys to all the other possible ways of life are potentially lost and not being offered to students. Losing your heart in what you do is devastating for teachers. Could it be that most teachers who drop out of the teaching profession or who have burnt out lost their heart and the initial inspiration that ignited their love of teaching?
The problem is that teachers are not encouraged to bring their heart first.
Slowly, over time, it is pushed back under a pile of systematic complications that does not allow such a way within their classroom, and more importantly, within their own life. Exhaustion then occurs on many levels: emotionally, mentally, physically and energetically. Their very core and inner essence is drained in life. This then has an impact on the well-being of our future generations as they are being raised and educated about life in a system that is operating from exhaustion, overwhelm, anxiety and with a sense of giving up - 'It's all too much!'
As teachers we need to stand strong, supporting ourselves in every way to make the quality of our classrooms what we know they need to be.
Teachers know within themselves what children truly need. To provide this, teachers need to support themselves in every way they can. Teachers can stop looking to others for answers, as they hold the keys within of how they know it can be.
Teachers can all relate to the underlying impulse to truly support students to 'be and to grow in their confidence and expression of who they truly are.'
When teachers bring this appreciation, confidence and celebration to themselves, they naturally and powerfully support students in this way. It is, and can be, very challenging for teachers on many levels, but this is where it changes – right here. We must give back to the teachers all they truly deserve.
We all must cherish all teachers and educators.
We must support them with all we have got, bring it all to them, so they learn to truly cherish themselves, and then we all can enjoy watching how they naturally reflect it back.
Teachers do not only offer education, they bring us the reflection of what life is like.
And so, if a teacher is given up in any way, this is what is being taught. However if a teacher can offer a reflection of true commitment and vibrancy, then the real education of life begins and for this we say - Teachers Are Gold!
Founder of Teachers Are Gold is Michael Benhayon. Michael has expertise in presenting on many topics from self-care and health-care to providing support groups for many professionals, in all professions.
He gains his vast wisdom and knowledge-full experience mostly from his daily work, offering complementary health-care services for many people of varying ages, and also from his own lived experiences.
Although there is much youthfulness in Michael, there is an absolute wisdom beyond years when he speaks and presents, and in the way he approaches all aspects of life.
Teachers Are Gold is a global collaboration of teachers from all over the world. It is open to all teachers to join with the intent to support, share and inspire the gold within ourselves and within the profession.
We are dedicated and committed to the well-being and appreciation of teachers worldwide.
Teachers Are Gold is a project to truly support and encourage all teachers to have true inner and outer health, and most importantly, remember how to connect with the GOLD that is within their heart.
